| These images were made at the end of July, 2006, almost a year after Hurricane Katrina. Most were taken in the Lower Ninth Ward, traditionally a poor neighborhood. A few were taken in the Lakeview district, an upper middle class neighborhood, and only one (the first) in the French Quarter. Although Katrina did not discriminate based on socio-economic status, the Lakeview district is slowly being rebuilt, mostly with private insurance money, while the Lower Ninth remains virtually a ghost town, with a few residents living in FEMA trailers behind the remains of their homes. While the French Quarter sustained relatively little damage, and is up, running, and as charming as ever, it is much too quiet..
